Ten steps to build your own semester calendar from the curriculum:

  1. 1Have your semester calendar with available class days available for input (ID holidays, minimum days, etc. when you won't be able to hold class)
  2. 2On your calendar, block out any days you already have instruction for (i.e. PT days, or Drill/Uniform days)
  3. 3List the Sections to be taught from the spreadsheet "MS or HS Grade Progression". These are the Sections to pull lessons from.
  4. 4For each Section being taught in the semester, list the Lessons (available in "Drafting Status")
  5. 5For the semester you're planning, determine the goal for cadets to promote to throughout the semester. Look up the PTAs and add that information to the curriculum lessons.
  6. 6ID any other activities that will take up class time (i.e. Staff Time, School Support, Admin Activities)
  7. 7Go through each list of Lessons and ID the ones you want to teach to your cadets, based on your experience, where you want your program to go, etc.
  8. 8Look at the Lessons you've identified and determine which you want to teach first, and whether it's a one-period class or multiple periods.
  9. 9Plug in the lessons in an order that makes sense. i.e. Teach about uniforms before your first inspection. Teach basic individual drill early.
