If you’re interested in becoming a Commandant in the California Cadet Corps (CACC), this is where your journey starts. The Pre-Appointment Course (PAC) is the first requirement for anyone joining our adult leadership team, and it’s designed for people from all backgrounds — educators, veterans, parents, or community mentors.

Before attending the live session, you’ll receive access to six short videos and one quiz. These must be completed before or within one week after the live class. The goal? To cut down on your weekend Zoom time and let you learn when it works for you.

We send the Pre-PAC links one week before the virtual class date.

Even if you register late, you can still attend the live Part B — you’ll just finish the videos and quiz afterward. However, your Oath Forms and final packet will not be processed until Pre-PAC is complete.

If you're a member of the California State Guard (CSG) and interested in helping with the California Cadet Corps (CACC), here’s what you need to know—especially when it comes to your rank and pay.

The California Cadet Corps (CACC) is a volunteer youth leadership program under the California Military and Veterans Code (CMVC) within the California Military Department but not part of the organized militia.

When CSG members work with CACC on paid State Active Duty orders (ESAD), the pay is handled through a system called ARRO—the same system used for all State Guard ESAD missions.

You might be appointed a different rank in the Cadet Corps for training or leadership roles, but for pay purposes, the rank you hold in the California State Guard is what matters.

A memo from CSG leadership (dated October 4, 2024) clearly says that all State Active Duty pay must be based on your official CSG rank, not your CACC appointment.
