Description
The California Cadet Corps offers a CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) program. This program aims to equip cadets with the skills and knowledge necessary to assist their communities during emergencies, such as natural disasters or accidents.
Overview
- Focus: Cadets learn basic disaster response skills, including first aid, search and rescue, fire safety, and disaster psychology.
- Objectives: To prepare cadets to be valuable assets in their communities during emergencies, providing immediate support until professional responders arrive.
- Benefits: Cadets develop valuable life skills, gain a sense of civic responsibility, and contribute positively to their communities.
Prerequisites
- Have access to laptop/chromebook/personal device (bring with you)
- Brief Overview of Stop the Bleed Information (STB Training will be first day)
- Brief Overview of FEMA courses IS-100.SCA OR IS-100B
- Brief Overview FEMA course IS-317
- Must be in 6th-12th grade
- Must be highly motivated, disciplined and ready to be hands on
- Must be in good standing within their respective units
