Drone Course

Overview
This year’s encampment offers a brand-new Advanced Unit to the Corps. The Drone Unit will focus on learning applicable regulations relating to small unmanned aircraft systems, airspace classification and operation requirements, aviation weather sources, emergency procedures, crew resource management, radio communication, airport operations, operation at night, and much more! Successful completion of this course will grant the cadet a FAA Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot Certification. As such, each graduate will be legally entitled to operate a UAS of less than 55 lbs for pay/profit. They will be FAA certified commercial drone pilots.

Prerequisites
- Be at least 16 years old
- Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
- Be in a physical and mental condition to safely fly a drone
- Possess a government-issued photo ID with current address
- Pass the initial aeronautical knowledge exam: “Unmanned Aircraft General – Small (UAG)”
