What is Officer Candidate School?
Officer Candidate School (OCS) will impart the skills, knowledge, and dispositions commensurate with appointment as a junior officer (C/2LT, C/1LT, and C/CPT) in the California Cadet Corps. During OCS Cadets will conduct safe, realistic, and challenging training that aims to provide Officer Candidates with the skill set, knowledge, and experience needed to return to their respective units with confidence to effectively lead their units as officers. Cadets will become masters of the D&C necessary for command, public speaking, and collaboration.
Prerequisites
- Have at least one month of successful leadership time in the position of Platoon Sergeant or above.*
- Be an incoming freshman in good standing with respective school (minimum GPA of 2.0 & no F's and no behavioral issues) and the CACC.*
- Attained at least the rank of C/SSG by the end of school year as shown on unit orders.*
- Able to meet CACC physical fitness standards.*
No further prerequisites.
OCS Rules and Info:
Enrollment and successful completion of a course does not mandate promotion, nor does successful completion of an OCS Course authorize a commandant to waive the requirements set forth in CR 1-5, Cadet Appointments and Promotions.
Candidates are not authorized to use cell phones or other electronics during OCS.
